DHS Announces Security Enhancements to Visa Waiver Program

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press release is here. The Visa Waiver Program allows travelers from countries with whom the United States has reciprocal agreements to visit the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa. It's unclear from the DHS statement how requiring "additional passport data, contact information, and other potential names or aliases" will enhance national security, or how the new changes to the travel application submitted via Electronic Systems for Travel Authorization (ESTA) will burden prospective visitors to the United States.
